Technique Blog Hop - Negative Images

Welcome to our Technique Blog Hop! This month there are 12 of us highlighting the “Negative Images ” Technique as shown on page 92 in the Fall/Winter 2012 Idea Book! This blog hop is a great big circle so you can start wherever you want and continue through to see all the fabulous artwork incorporating this technique.

If you are coming from Cherri's Blog, you are on the right track!

For the large die cut on the base of the layout I used the negative of a die cut shape cut from the New Artiste Cartridge. I used the "postive" part for the new shadow box (Bracket Frame). Such a big piece of scrap I didn't want to get rid of it, so this is what I made with it.
I used a Cricut to cut the argyle shapes. I cut these to look like one was the negative of the other image but in fact they are two distinct images. I thought this would be a nice variation to this technique.
I added some of the matching Chipboard that I stamped. The layout itself is done using the Dakota Paper Pack. I added the Burlap Ribbon with a strip of the Satin Polka-Dot Ribbon on top.
For embellishments I added the Antiqued Gold Mini Medley. Thanks for stopping by! Please continue onto Shirley Ross' Blog where you will find some additional artwork highlighting this technique! Be sure to leave a comment and let me know what you thought of my variation and happy hopping!

  1. nice, nice, nice! love the layering of ribbon with the burlap- totally doing this.

  2. i love all the layers. argyle-type designs are one of my favorites and using both the positive & negative images in different areas makes the contrast more interesting. great job on the layout!

  3. Love how you used the negative, great layout!
