Faux Leather Using Paper

This is one of the cards I created for Extravaganza this year. I wanted to share a few of the techniques on this card. The first is how to pop up the foil shape. I found the best way was to stick it to card stock and then trim around it. Next use 3D foam tape to pop it up. This gives it a ridged look. You could also put baby powder on the back and then use 3D foam tape but it is less stiff this way.
To create the faux leather look, spray a strip of barn red cardstock with water and crumble in your hand. Work the paper out so that it is back in shape somewhat flat. Using your embossing stylus or your piercing tool create a raise hole for the belt holes. Then directly rub your ink pad directly over the top of the paper. All the raised wrinkles will pick up the color. Trim the edge to the shape of a belt and sponge dauber the cut edge.
Next to create metallic shine on the tag. I sprayed the New Whisper cardstock with pearl paint and alcohol. the Alcohol dries faster that water. Next I randomly daubed color on with my sponge daubers. I used the barn red and pacifica. I added a little bit of blue tulle. The new black tulle would go perfectly!
